According to a , May 24, 1951 story in the Chester Times, Miss Edith H. John served from the library's opening in May 1906 until she was succeeded by Miss Rebecca Smedley (see P-12009).

According to her obituary from the Chester Times, July 11, 1950, Smedley served as librarian from 1906 to 1917. She never married, and lived at 44 E. Front Street, a block from the library.

Williamson was a board member from the library's founding in 1901 until his death on August 21, 1955, at the age of 94, according to his August 22, 1955 obituary in the Chester Times.
